EghtesadOnline: President of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran Kioumars Hashemi said here on Sunday that so far 23 Iranian athletes out of 64 have departed to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Hashemi stated that so far the volleyball, archery, shooting, table tennis and sailing teams have been departed Tehran for Rio with the rest to be dispatched there by weekend, according to IRNA.
He also expressed the hope that the Iranian athletes would be lucky enough to bag several shinny medals during the Rio competitions.
64 of Iranian athletes have managed to grab the chance of attending the prestigious international games in 14 sports fields.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Games will take place from August 5 to 21, 2016, and will include 10,500 athletes from 205 countries in 44 articles of 28 sports fields.
