EghtesadOnline: Negotiations are underway between Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to launch a railway joining the four countries, according to Mir-Hassan Mousavi, a senior official with Islamic Republic of Iran's railways.

Mousavi said that negotiations are being made in line with approvals in the course of the visit by President Hassan Rouhani to Central Asian countries.

Iran has plans to boost railway links with the regional countries, particularly those in Central Asia and the Caucasus to facilitate transport of goods between Asia and Europe, the official said.

According to IRNA, Mousavi said that railway officials from the four countries have held negotiations on the agenda and the next meeting is scheduled to be held six months later.
