EghtesadOnline: Iran will host the 13th Regional Summit of Asia-Pacific International Cooperatives Alliance in 2018, deputy head of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives said on Tuesday.
Ali Reza Qaragozlu said that the global entity is the highest authority in cooperative sector and hosting the event is crucial for the country due to its communications with the United Nations and international organizations, according to IRNA.
Holding the international event is very significant due to presence of representative of the ICA Global and other members of board of directors, he said.
Organizing the summit in Iran will entail many advantages for the country, he said, noting that one of the countries' strategies for gaining sustainable and lasting influence is hosting the international conferences.
Qaragozlu further noted that a delegation from ICA is scheduled to visit Tehran within the next 90 days to survey the site and other preparations for the summit.
According to the official, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, China and India boast of strong cooperatives sector.
