EghtesadOnline: Iran traded 2.19 million tons of non-oil commodities worth $1.11 billion with Afghanistan during the first four months of the current fiscal year (March 21-July 22).
The figures registered a 14.8% and 29.95% increase in tonnage and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration’s statistics indicate. Iran’s exports to Afghanistan stood at 2.18 million tons worth $1.10 billion, up 15.21% and 30.69% in tonnage and value respectively year-on-year. Afghanistan was Iran’s fourth biggest export destination during the period. Iran mainly exported low-density oil, hydrocarbides and floorings to Afghanistan during the four-month period. Afghanistan exported 3,402 tons of goods worth $3.88 million to Iran, down 64.78% and 50.53% in tonnage and value respectively YOY. The country was the 68th major exporter of goods to Iran over the four months. The imports mainly included sesame, caraway and other herbs, according to Financial Tribune.
