EghtesadOnline: Recent heavy rainfall and flooding in Iran have inflicted millions of dollars in damage on roads in several provinces, including South Khorasan, Ilam, Lorestan, Golestan, Mazandaran and Yazd.
This was announced by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development’s news service on Thursday, citing Iran Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization. Among the six provinces, South Khorasan Province was the hardest hit with around 400 billion rials ($9.52 million) in losses. Damage to roads in Ilam, Lorestan, Golestan, Mazandaran and Yazd have been estimated at 120 billion rials ($2.85 million), 100 billion rials ($2.38 million), 34 billion rials ($809,523), 30 billion rials ($714,285) and 18 billion rials ($428,571) respectively. The Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization has taken measures to repair the damage and all roads in the above-mentioned provinces are open to traffic now, Financial Tribune reported.
