EghtesadOnline: More than 70,000 tons of commodities worth $39.4 million were exported from the northern Gilan Province during the Iranian month ending April 20, which is up by 135% and 86% in tonnage and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period.
According to Abolqasem Yousefinejad, an official with Gilan Customs Administration, exports mainly included mineral products, vegetable, fruit, dates, raisins, tea, glass, food products, textile and plastic products, ISNA reported.
Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Georgia and Persian Gulf littoral states were the main export destinations.
The port of Astara, bordering the Republic of Azerbaijan, had the lion’s share of exports from Gilan Province, according to Financial Tribune.
A total of 96,210 tons of goods worth 91.85 million were imported into the northern Iranian province, registering a decrease of 12% in weight and an increase of 126% in value year-on-year.
Imports mainly included metal, industrial machinery, electrical tools and related products, wood and board, wheat, barley and chemical products. Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Japan and Turkey were the main exporters to Gilan during the period under review.
According to Yousefinejad, 19,360 tons of goods worth 19.71 million were transited through the province during the same period, up by 1% in tonnage and down by 7% in value YOY.
Transited goods included fuel, metal, wood, automobiles, industrial products, apparel and chemical products.
Gilan Customs Administration earned 299.12 million rials ($7,122) in revenues during the month to April 20, indicating a YOY increase of 26%.
