EghtesadOnline: Contracts worth 25 trillion rials ($556.54 million) was signed between the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the private sector on Sunday for the construction of 439 kilometers of freeways along six routes across the country, namely Ardakan-Mehriz, Mashhad-Qouchan, Lamerd-Parsan, Section-9 of Tabriz-Urmia, the northern bypass road of Arak and the eastern bypass road of Sirjan.

Kheirollah Khademi, CEO of Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company affiliated to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, said based on the contract, the private sector will provide 70% of the required investment and the government will provide the remaining sum, ministry's website reported.

“At present, around 1,170 kilometers of freeways are being constructed across the country, creating jobs for some 17,000 people,” Financial Tribune quoted him as saying.
