EghtesadOnline: Iran and Georgia opened the sixth meeting of their joint economic commission in Tbilisi on Tuesday.
The session, which extends into Tuesday, is co-chaired by Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Gakharia and Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei.
The two sides surveyed ways of increasing bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, transportation, communications and technology, finance and banking, commerce, customs, education, science, culture, sports, tourism, health and environment.
A memorandum of understanding is scheduled to be signed between the two countries today, according to Financial Tribune.
The Iranian minister is accompanied by a 30-member delegation from Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.
Iran and Georgia held their first joint economic commission in 1994.
Tourism to Georgia from Iran has been increasing ever since the two countries reestablished bilateral visa-free travel in 2015.
