EghtesadOnline: Exports from Iran's Eastern Azarbaijan Province rose by 28 percent in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (starting March 21), compared to the same period last year, a local official said on Wednesday.

During the first six-month period of the year(March 21-September 22), 738,824 tons of goods with a value of 593.345 million dollars have been exported from the northeastern Iranian province, said Ali Asghar Abbaszadeh, Customs auditor of Eastern Azarbaijan.

The exports, mostly plastic items, fruits, fuel, mineral oils, sugar, cereal products and glass, were exported to 98 countries, including Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Pakistan, Italy, Bulgaria and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to IRNA, Eastern Azarbaijan Province shares border with Armenia and Republic of Azerbaijan.
