EghtesadOnline: With around $43.7 billion, consumer goods accounted for 14% of Iran’s total imports over the last fiscal year that ended on March 20, 2017, the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran said.

“Intermediate and capital goods constituted the remaining 86%,” Mojtaba Khosrotaj, who is also deputy minister of industries, mining and trade, told a press conference on Monday, as reported by Financial Tribune. According to Mohammad Lahouti, the head of Iran Export Confederation, capital goods accounted for 15% of last year’s overall imports. He said the share of consumer goods in the basket of Iranian imports stood at a staggering 35% the year Hassan Rouhani took office as Iran’s president in 2013, according to Financial Tribune.
