EghtesadOnline: Deputy head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization said on Wednesday that during the government of Prudence and Hope, Islamic Republic of Iran has become a sustainable international tourism destination.

Morteza Rahmani Movahed told IRNA that based on domestic and global figures, the 11th government had taken fundamental measures with regard to tourism, including infrastructure, facilitation, being present in international events, giving information and advertising.

He pointed out that government, using its authority, with the help and contribution of private sector had performed well in the development and diversification of tourism infrastructure in the past four years.

Rahmani Movahed also said that the number of the ecotourism resorts had been increased from 20 units in 1392 (Persian calander) to 528 at the end of 1395.

He referred to the hike as an important step with regard to the issue of accommodation, as well as decentralization and distributing tourists in all Iranian provinces.

Developing Rural tourism was among different services which was offered in Norooz this year, through which the rural areas of Iran became more prominent.

Deputy head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization also declared that in President Hassan Rouhani's term of office, more than 700 incomplete projects in tourism economy, including hotels, tourist resorts and centers were completed.

Rahmani Movahed added: Iran’s tourism status in the President Rouhani’s government was promoted by four grades, and as a result, the country was introduced as one of the global tourism destinations by international authentic sources.

“International media and organizations advised people from all over the world to go and see the unique attractions of Iran, and that was the result of high security of our country which, in turn, owes to Iranian security forces, army and police’s attempts,' he explained.
