EghtesadOnline: The government is planning to link the databases of Iran Health Insurance Organization and Social Security Organization to ease access to policyholders’ profiles, reduce prescriptions and medical errors, said Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Minister Ali Rabiei.

“The government also plans to phase out health insurance booklets, making them electronic to lower medical expenses, improve diagnosis and enhance supervision over insurance companies,” Banker.ir quoted the minister as saying on Monday. Health insurance booklets have been misused a lot and impose a huge financial burden ($17 million annually) on the healthcare system due to their cost of publication and distribution, Financial Tribune reported.
