EghtesadOnline: The film 'Salesman' directed by Asghar Farhadi is one of the fine nominees for the prestigious award of Oscar in the best foreign-language film category at the 89th Academy Awards.
The film will compete with the movies 'Land of Mine' from Denmark, 'A Man Called Ove' from Sweden, 'Tanna' from Australia, and 'Toni Erdmann' from Germany in the section.
'The Salesman' is about Emad and Ra'na, who move into a new flat downtown Tehran. An incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes the young couple’s life, according to IRNA.
The film also brought Farhadi the award for best screenplay and the Palme d’Or for best actor for Shahab Hosseini at the 69th Cannes Film Festival last year.
'Salesman' has so far received various awards such as Silver Hugo from Chicago Film Festival, the best film award from Munich Festival and an award from the US National Association of Film Criticism.
Dealing with life of a couple named Emad and Ra'na, the film has a social theme. Main roles are played by Shahab Hosseini and Taraneh Alidousti.
